The Red Hot has established itself, in two short years, as a Tacoma icon. Chris is probably the hardest working guy in the Tacoma beer scene: Tirelessly striving to put the best suds in front of his loyal customers. I hope you all appreciate that because I know I do.
I also appreciate his friendly and accommodating staff. Many times when I have been kicked out of every other respectable bar in town I have been welcomed at the Red Hot with a sympathetic "John, put your shirt on, have a beer, and I'll give you a ride home." Now, that's service!
I think they only close early just to get me out the door, but that's another matter altogether.
If you're not aware, the Red Hot is celebrating their 2nd anniversary on Sunday August 16th. Here's what Chris has to say about that:
"Sunday August 16th is our 2 Year Anniversary. We will be celebrating from open to close (1pm til 10pm). We'll have some special beers outside in the beer garden (like a keg of Elysian Koolsch brought down from Fields), The Randall will be flowing on something special, and even another KILLER firkin cask of Schooner Exact dry-hopped 3 Grid IPA, and some other hijinks (hotdog eating contest, anyone?). We hope to see all our pals!"

What’s really tough is getting tossed out of the Parkway and then finding the person who tossed you sitting next to you at the Red Hot. Then having to have one of those awkward “Uh, sorry about the other night. I’m sure your mother is actually quite nice and I doubt your dad really did those things to you.”
I kid. I have only been tossed out of one bar and it was not in Washington. Apparently insistently ordering a pitcher of beer, when in fact they didn’t serve pitchers, was a tip off to my level of inebriation.
The great thing about the Parkway staff is that none of us have nice mothers and our dad's are less than perfect too. That's how we ended up working at the Parkway!
If the Red Hot had Hop 15 tonight it may have been the place. But tonight it didn't so that other place a couple miles away was!! You know who I'm talkin' about!
The Swiss?
