Look What I Can Do!

I haven't delved into industry gossip in a while. Mostly because nobody gives a monkey's, but New Belgium's recent job search for a South Sound "Beer Ranger" has got everyone excited. They got over twenty applicants for what has to be considered a sweet position. I would have applied myself but I'm too old, too drunk, and can't ride a bicycle.

But it makes us wonder, can things be so rough at Columbia and Click that every decent salesperson wants to take a pay cut to peddle Fat Tire?

If anyone's willing to take it, my money is on Heidi from Columbia. You heard it here first.

And speaking of plum jobs is there anyone out there who sees their future in the exciting world of Tacoma beer blogging? I am clearly overwhelmed by the responsibilities of this endeavor and could use some help. No pay, maybe some free beer, lots of possibilities.

I think you should stick to talking about beer. Heidi? Umm, doesn't she sell wine? If there are that many applicants, what makes you think they are going to pick someone who currently doesn't even sell their product. Wouldn't it make more sense to go with someone who has the knowledge about beer? Oh, and how do you know that it would be a cut in pay? Are you that priviledge to know the salaries of everyone applying? Do you even know how much New Belgium is offering for the job?

Im just saying.....

I'm guessing they didn't get a follow up interview.

Suprising response from the author of the article. He gets asked questions regarding the material and information that he posted and yet instead of answering he sends out an insult.

Why not use the response to the first comment as a way to validify your original article rather than assuming that the person posting it didn't get the job.

Oh dear, I raised somebody's ire.
So where should I start?
I put little value in comments posted anonymously. If you have something pertinent to say put your name on it. I don't hide behind the anon shield and neither should you.
I am priviledge(sic)to know what the position pays because I applied for it myself. And I also know what a good salesperson can earn because I'm in the business. I know the numbers and they aren't that spectacular.
I'm not sure how I can "validify", (or did you mean validate?), my original article, other than to point out that, still, nobody gives a monkey's about any of this except for you. And, I guess, me.
I'm sorry you didn't get the job, too.

Great stuff John. I love it when you get these folks all riled up and they throw out their pithy comments under the "Anonymous" tag.

I agree with John, I know who applied for the position and I personally have spoke to people at New Belgium and let them know from the sales side of the industry, Heidi is by far the most personable, freindly sales person I have ever sold against.

And lets face facts for some reason wine sales people have less trouble learning beer than beer people do learning wine.

Also Heidi may be on the "wine team" but I sold beer against her every tuesday in Enumclaw for 3 years.

Finally as for the pay issue, if money equates to happiness in your life I pity you.

Word on the street is that the position was filled. Any info on who got the job? Mick, you must know, right? Wait, it was filled before you posted. Doh!
